What is Litsemba Funeral Cover?
Funeral insurance underwritten by ESRIC for SBS customers who have transactional and savings accounts. Premium deduction is through a stop order monthly.
Until what age can I get funeral cover?
The maximum entry age for the main life Litsemba, the spouse, parents and parents-in-law is 85 years. The maximum entry age for children is 21 years, 25 years if they are still students. For disabled children they are covered for as long as the policy remains active, but they must have entered before turning 21.
Can I take out funeral cover for my parents?
Yes. You can get funeral cover for your parents and even your parents-in-law to your policy. The maximum age until your parents can be added to your policy to enjoy cover is 85 years.
How many members can I add to my funeral policy?
Your Litsemba funeral plan allows you to add your spouse, up to 6 children, your parents, & your parents-in-law, and extended family members. This is a total of 22 members on one plan. You can add and remove members as and when needed. Please note that waiting periods will apply.
Can I add stepchildren to my policy?
Yes. You can add up to 6 children to your funeral plan – this refers to biological children, legally adopted children and stepchildren. You cannot add a child to your policy if he or she is older than 21. For disabled children they are covered for as long as the policy remains active, but they must have entered before turning 21.
Does the funeral plan provide cover for a stillborn child?
Yes. We will pay out depending on the plan in the event of a stillborn children after 28 weeks of pregnancy. The mother of the stillborn child must be either the main life Litsemba or the spouse covered under the policy.
How much funeral cover can I take out?
You can choose how much funeral cover you want and you can change this amount as often as you need. Please note that waiting periods will apply. We offer funeral cover from E5 000 to E50 000.
Who will receive the payout amount at claims stage?
If you are the main life under Litsemba Funeral (the policy is in your name) and you pass away, then we will pay the claim out to your nominated beneficiary. If anyone else covered under your policy passes away, the benefit will be paid out to you.
How long does it take for a claim to be paid?
Claims are paid within 24 hours, after all supporting documents for example death certificate have been received and verified by SBS.
When will the cover start?
You and your immediate family covered under this Plan will be covered from the date your first premium is paid, if as the policy holder are below 65 years. 6 months waiting will apply to the senior citizen policy holder (65-85years) and extended family members under your policy.
